Georgia volleyball fell to 5-1 after losing to undefeated Clemson in four sets on Tuesday evening in Jervey Gym in Clemson, South Carolina. The Bulldogs’ set scores were 21-25, 25-22, 25-27 and 23-25.
Junior Bianna Muoneke continued her hot streak with 13 kills and 14 digs, and freshman Chloe Elarton recorded her own double-double with 25 assists and 13 digs. Elarton tied her season best in assists and set a new season high in digs.
Georgia outblocked the Tigers 12-9 at the net, with junior Kendal Kemp blocking seven and sophomore MK Patten posting six blocks in addition to her nine kills. SEC Defensive Player of the Week Tori Harper recorded seven kills and four block assists.
Senior Estelle Haugen earned a season-high 12 kills, and sophomore Makena Lim matched Muoneke for the team lead with 14 digs. Muoneke also recorded three service aces.
Had the Bulldogs won, this would have been the longest season-opening winning streak since 2018, head coach Tom Black’s second season for Georgia.
Clemson dominated throughout the match, as the lead only changed 10 times over the four sets.
Georgia is now 28-13 all-time against Clemson. The last win against Clemson was in 2005 in Athens. The Tigers improved to 6-0 on the season with the victory.
Georgia begins the Bulldog Classic against Presbyterian at Stegeman Coliseum on Friday.
