The Denver Broncos started the 2025 NFL season with a 20-12 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. However, quarterback Bo Nix was not bad, but not particularly good. Nix finished 25-of-40 passing for 176 yards, but he threw two interceptions to his one touchdown. So while he won, his performance didn’t appear to build off his 2024 success.

Shannon Sharpe, who won two out of his three Super Bowl titles with the Broncos in 1997 and 1998, chimed in on the Broncos’ win and on Nix and his performance on a recent episode of his “Nightcap” podcast. Shannon expressed to his co-host, Chad Johnson, how frustrated he was watching Nix’s and his performance as he turned the ball over. Head coach Sean Payton’s offense gets primed on precision, and turning the ball three times while completing just over 60% of his passes did not help Nix out.

Maybe it’s Shannon’s Broncos allegiance that disappointed him, but his right to be disappointed is not in vain. Nix came into this season expecting to build off of his rookie performance. While the season is not lost, it is not the performance many sought from the second-year quarterback. To see what Shannon had to say, check out the clip below. Nix will aim to bounce back in Week 2.
