The Green Bay Packers ruled out defensive end Brenton Cox Jr. and cornerback Bo Melton and listed defensive end Micah Parsons, cornerback Nate Hobbs, right tackle Zach Tom, guard Aaron Banks and safety Zayne Anderson as questionable on the final injury report before facing the Washington Commanders in Week 2 of the 2025 season.

How will the injury situation affect Thursday night’s showdown?

Here’s an in-depth breakdown of the Packers’ final injury report ahead of Week 2:

Questionable (5)

DE Micah Parsons (back): He got through 29 snaps without a setback in Week 1 and then practiced in a limited capacity this week, so expect Parsons to play — again on a snap count — on Thursday night. He is ramping up and expects to be full go by the end of the month.

CB Nate Hobbs (knee): Hobbs didn’t play in Week 1 and was limited during walkthroughs this week, so it’s unclear if he’s closer to probable to play or doubtful to play in Week 2. It’s possible the Packers want to give him a full week of practice before he makes his 2025 debut. Carrington Valentine played well in his absence in the opener.

RT Zach Tom (oblique): He was injured in the third quarter of the opener and didn’t return, and he wasn’t available to participate in any capacity this week. The Packers are leaving the door open to him playing, but he’s likely much closer to doubtful to play. Darian Kinnard or Anthony Belton would start at right tackle if Tom can’t go Thursday.

LG Aaron Banks (groin/ankle): The same goes for Banks, who exited late on Sunday and then didn’t practice during any of the walkthroughs this week. The Packers have 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan ready to start at left guard if needed.

S Zayne Anderson (knee): The special teamer wasn’t available in Week 1 while recovering from a knee injury first suffered in the preseason opener.

Out (2)

DE Brenton Cox Jr (groin): The third-year edge rusher was hurt in the first half, didn’t return and didn’t practice this week. The Packers are deep at edge rusher, especially with Parsons ramping up and rookie Barryn Sorrell ready to go for Week 2.

CB Bo Melton (shoulder): The converted receiver injured his shoulder in Week 1 and will miss Week 2. Expect the Packers to elevate Micah Robinson for the second straight week to provide depth at corner.

No status designation

The following players do not have a status designation on the final injury report and will play Thursday night: WR Matthew Golden, QB Jordan Love, WR Jayden Reed, DE Barryn Sorrell, LB Quay Walker, P Daniel Whelan, WR Dontayvion Wicks.

Notables are Reed, who is still working through a foot injury, and Walker, who had a quad injury to start this week but is good to go.

Commanders injury report

The Commanders listed punter Tress Way (back) and defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. (knee) as questionable to play. No other player has a status designation. Dan Quinn’s team is clearly the healthier team entering Thursday night.
