The Cincinnati Bengals have lost one of their practice squad players, as Isaiah Williams has been signed to the New York Jets’ 53-man roster, it was announced Wednesday.
Williams, a second-year player from Illinois, heads to the Big Apple after spending one week on the Bengals’ practice squad following final roster cuts.
An undrafted free agent who signed with the Detroit Lions in May of 2024, Williams started his rookie season in Detroit before being waived in November and claimed by the Bengals. He had 11 punt returns for 93 yards (8.5 avg) with the Bengals last year.
The former Fighting Illini standout led the Big Ten in 2023 in receptions (82) and ranked second in receiving yards (1,055), while returning 11 punts for 127 yards (11.5). He was named first-team All-Big Ten as a wide receiver and honorable mention All-Big Ten as a return specialist.
Best of luck to Williams in New York!
