Two of the notables not at Cincinnati Bengals workouts early this week continue to sit engulfed in standoffs with the team.

Both defensive end Trey Hendrickson and linebacker Germaine Pratt remain away from the team after trade requests this offseason.

Hendrickson, granted permission to seek a trade by the team before the draft, remains away due to dissatisfaction with his current contract. ESPN’s Jermey Fowler provided an update there:

“There’s no update with defensive end Trey Hendrickson’s contract situation, which is at a stalemate. My read on the situation is that Hendrickson is convicted enough to stay away from the team, having no interest in playing on his scheduled $16 million salary in 2025. Right now this is a waiting game.”

As for Pratt, he requested a trade away from the Bengals in the wake of the defensive coordinator change from Lou Anarumo to Al Golden. His combination of age and salary make it unlikely the Bengals find a trade partner, with Fowler writing that a “trade has yet to materialize.”

As always, it feels like things are trending toward the Bengals cutting Pratt, especially after drafting two linebackers.

The standoff with Hendrickson is more complex and could drag into the summer. But another recent report took a much more positive tone and given past standoffs with the star defensive end and his age, the Bengals still figure to have him on the field by Week 1.
