The Tennessee Titans will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon at Nissan Stadium in their 2025 home opener. The Week 2 matchup is set to kick off at 12:00 p.m. CDT.
These two teams have met just 14 times in NFL history, and the Rams lead the series, 8-6.
The Rams are coming off a 14-9 victory over the Houston Texans — one that saw C.J. Stroud throw an interception and get sacked three times. The Titans are returning from a tough 20-12 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Here are three reasons for optimism ahead of the Week 2 matchup between the Titans and Rams.
Cam Ward
There are many negatives to extract from the performance last week, but Cam Ward was emphatically not one of them. He impressed through the offensive dysfunction. Again, he has been everything the Titans have needed culturally. He was putting passes where they needed to be, and his teammates were letting him down. He gives this franchise exactly what it needs. Expect more great performances and leadership from him going forward.
Battered Rams offensive line
The Los Angeles Rams’ offensive line is already battered. Steve Avila, Kevin Dotson, and Rob Havenstein have all popped up on the injury report throughout the week. T’Vondre Sweat and Jeffery Simmons will be salivating if Avila and Dotson don’t play. Getting pressure inside is key to making Matthew Stafford uncomfortable, especially as he has aged in athletic ability and deals with the much-publicized back injury. The drop-off in their depth on the offensive line is big. Expect the Titans to seize this opportunity.
Turnover creation
Another piece of positivity from the defense was the number of turnovers generated last week, with four. The Titans’ defense and special teams hustled to the ball last week. They showed that they can rally to the ball aggressively, especially Roger McCreary. His interception was the most impressive of the four turnovers.
While it’s not expected that Stafford will be as sloppy in the passing game, this Titans secondary will be playing hard to secure a turnover. On special teams, they hustled effectively on that muffed punt and were prepared to fall on it. Turnovers are all about effort, and the Titans’ defense and special teams don’t have any issues with that.
