The Arizona Cardinals will take on the Carolina Panthers this weekend at State Farm Stadium in Week 2. Next week, they will face the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

They will face a shorthanded 49ers offense.

Already without receiver Brandon Aiyuk and tight end George Kittle, they will also be without starting quarterback Brock Purdy.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Purdy will miss two to five weeks with a shoulder injury and a toe injury. That means, at minimum, backup quarterback Mac Jones will start for the Niners this week against the New Orleans Saints and next week against the Cardinals.

That means the Cardinals will avoid Purdy, Kittle (who was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury) and Aiyuk, who is on PUP recovering from a torn ACL suffered last season.

They will still have the rushing attack of Christian McCaffrey and Brian Robinson and a well coached defense, but it now looks like a game the Cardinals win, giving them a legitimate shot at a 3-0 start before the Seattle Seahawks come to town for a Thursday night game in Week 4.
