TUSCALOOSA, AL. – The Northridge Jaguars were looking for a rebound victory after last week. An upsetting loss to McAdory last week, in a game Northridge felt it should have won, soured what was a strong start to the season for the Jaguars.

Â
The Jaguars had an opportunity to get back into the win column on Friday night in front of a rowdy crowd, as Northridge celebrated homecoming this week. The opponent, while not a superstar team, wouldn’t roll over and simply let Northridge walk all over them, even though it was homecoming for the Jaguars. The Brookwood Panthers hope to spoil a big weekend.
Â
On the Jaguars’ opening drive of the game, quarterback Mayson Elam showed why he’s one of the top quarterbacks in west Alabama, connecting with Keith Powell for a 50-yard score to give the Jaguars some juice to start the game. The extra point wasn’t made, but Northridge found itself with a 6-0 lead just two minutes into the contest.
Â
Following an eight-minute drive for Brookwood, the Jaguars stared down the barrel of a one-point deficit as the first quarter came to a close. If the Jaguars wanted to put on a show for the home crowd, they’d have to do it in comeback fashion.
Â
And put on a show, the Jaguars did in the second quarter. Elam collected his second passing touchdown on the night, hitting Jaylin McCray on a swing pass after a big catch and run from tight end Adam Hall to set the Jags up in scoring position.
Â
Running back Damarcus Wilder got involved in the scoring action as well on a 25-yard scamper midway through the quarter.
Â
Mayson Elam hit for his third passing touchdown of the night, this one to Adam Hall, over the middle of the field.
Â
And for good measure, Adam Hall hauled in another touchdown pass from Mayson Elam (Elam’s fourth on the night) as the Jaguars looked up and found themselves with a 34-7 lead at halftime.
Â
The second half saw little scoring from either squad, with the Jaguars’ defense rising to the occasion and holding the Panthers out of the end zone for the entire second half. Northridge tacked on a field goal by Hicks Finison with a minute and change in the fourth quarter to secure the 37-7 victory over the Brookwood Panthers on homecoming night.
