Globally, everyone is reacting to the newly-appointed Pope in the Catholic Church, and bishop of Rome. On Thursday, it was announced that Cardinal Robert Prevost has been named the new pope, he is the first American pope in history and will go by the name Pope Leo XIV who was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.

While the entire world had a reaction in one way or another, the city of Chicago has been buzzing, with social media having plenty of memes and comments about Pope Leo XIV. One of the city’s biggest sports stars, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, had his own reaction to the news of the new Pope, taking to his X account to celebrate the news by using a well-known phrase around the Chicago Bears fanbase.

“Daaaaaa Pope,” Williams wrote.

Williams also shared the following on his Instagram story.

There are plenty of jokes that could be made for the Bears fanbase, who desperately want a miracle and Super Bowl championship back in Chicago, but at least Williams is embracing his new hometown. There are plenty of new chapters being made in the city of Chicago and those from it, and Williams hopes to become the next legendary name to bring glory to the city in the form of a Super Bowl championship, something the team has not had since the 1985 season.
