Sometimes in life, I find I can’t find the forest for the trees.
I get interested in the details and like looking into the statistics of a football game, and end up missing some of the more obvious big-picture elements that are clear for all to see, if we are really watching.

Two weeks into the Washington Commanders‘ 2025 season, we can look at all sorts of statistics, and there are several that raise questions, but what are some of the more obvious things we have noticed regarding the Commanders‘ first two games?
The Packers visibly played softer, allowing the Commanders to move the ball, using more clock to score a garbage-time touchdown, after trailing 27-10.
Is anyone else starting to become anxious regarding Marshon Lattimore? He is getting beaten, he is not defending passes, and he is committing penalties.
Losing Deatrich Wise is a huge loss. We know he provided size; he was going to really help defend the Eagles‘ running offense this season. Now, he is already gone. A good signing from which the Commanders will get little in return.
Rookie RT Josh Conerly? I felt for him. They drafted him late in round one, but in his first two games, he has been up against some really tough rushers in Brian Burns and Micah Parsons. Next up? Maxx Crosby. Maybe they can use a tight end to briefly chip down to lend a quick hand to Conerly?
Yes, when playing team sports, your opponent can shape how good people think you are, or aren’t. The New York Giants might have provided a false impression to the Commanders and the fan base.
Why was Packers TE Tucker Kraft open all night? Why were Packers receivers open much more often than Washington receivers?
I wonder how long it will take for Terry McLaurin to get into NFL football shape and then sync up with Jayden Daniels. Apparently, there are consequences for holding out, holding in, or sitting out due to that ankle injury.
What in the world were Dan Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury thinking during the Commanders’ last possession of the first half? Not using their timeouts? No sense of urgency? Wasn’t that the direct opposite of the approach last season?
Chris Rodriguez is certainly going to be active now. Who will be the third-down back, and how effective will Ekeler’s replacement be?
Remember the 2024 offense? What words come to mind after watching the first two games of the offense this season? Sloppy? Mediocre? Clumsy? Uncoordinated?
This game was the worst thus far for Kliff Kingsbury, Jayden Daniels, and the Commanders’ offense. It was the worst since Kliff and Jayden became Commanders. I am not merely talking this season.
