Ahead of their Week 2 matchup, the Jaguars are calling on some extra tight end help.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will go into their matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals with some additional tight end help.

The Jaguars announced on Saturday that they are elevating tight end Quintin Morris from the practice squad to the game-day roster.

Each practice squad player can be elevated up to three times over the course of the season. This is Morris’ first.

Jacksonville does not have any injuries at the tight end position on the 53-man roster, but that is a unit that is a bit light with only three players rostered in Brenton Strange, Johnny Mundt, and Hunter Long.

Morris was a free agent addition made by the Jaguars this offseason and spent training camp with the team before being released during roster cutdowns.

In his three previous seasons with Buffalo, Morris has played 753 total offensive snaps and has primarily been utilized as a blocker. He’s also an experienced special teams player with over 1,000 career snaps, per PFF.

What this elevation tells us is that the Jaguars either want added special teams help on Sunday or perhaps this may be a more run-heavy outing for the offense, and they would prefer to have Morris’ depth off the bench.
