It’s a week to take a deep breath.
The Colorado State football team played a surprisingly (and frustratingly, to most) close game in Week 2, sneaking out a 21-17 win over FCS foe Northern Colorado.
The performance left many upset, but also put CSU with a 1-1 record that most expected after two games.

What’s next for the Rams? Here’s what you need to know about Colorado State and its schedule for Week 3 of the 2025 college football season:
Does Colorado State play today?
On the heels of the dramatic win over UNC, the Rams get two weeks to evaluate and prepare before playing again.
That’s because CSU has an early season, Week 3 bye. The Rams are idle the weekend of Sept. 13.
Despite not having a game, there’s plenty of intrigue around CSU as a quarterback competition is underway after starter Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi has struggled so far.
The next time CSU is in action will be on national television in what appears to be a big “swing game” for the season. The Rams host UTSA at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Canvas Stadium. The game will be broadcast on FS1.

UTSA is 0-2 entering a Sept. 13 home game against Incarnate Word, but don’t let the record fool you. This is a strong team and program. The losses were at Texas A&M and to Texas State.
UTSA is still expected to be one of the top teams in the American Conference.
The next two games should tell everyone a lot about the Rams as they play UTSA and then Washington State (Sept. 27).
For what it’s worth, ESPN’s matchup predictor has both games as virtual toss ups. It gives CSU a 49.3% chance to beat UTSA and the Rams a 51% chance to beat Washington State.
