The Jacksonville Jaguars made one of the biggest moves of the NFL draft when they traded up from No. 5 to No. 2 with the Cleveland Browns to select two-way superstar Travis Hunter.
After welcoming him to the facility over the past few weeks—and following Hunter’s graduation from the University of Colorado on Thursday—the next chapter of his journey is set to begin with Jacksonville’s rookie minicamp this weekend.

On Friday, the Jaguars announced a key update: Hunter will retain his college number and wear No. 12 in Jacksonville. With the number now officially confirmed, his jersey is expected to become one of the top sellers for the organization.
Rumors had circulated that Travis Hunter might wear a different number on defense while keeping No. 12 on offense, but those reports were put to rest following the Jaguars’ official jersey reveal. Hunter will wear No. 12 full-time.
Hunter has worn No. 12 dating back to his days at Collins Hill High School. He carried that number into college, beginning as a five-star prospect at Jackson State, where he played under Deion Sanders and alongside his close friend, current Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

After one year at Jackson State, Hunter transferred to Colorado with the Sanders family when Deion accepted the head coaching job in Boulder. He retained his No. 12 jersey throughout his two seasons with the Buffaloes, culminating in a historic Heisman Trophy win—becoming just the second player in Colorado program history to earn the honor.

Now, Hunter joins a Jaguars team aiming to return to postseason contention, and it appears they’ve found a franchise cornerstone to build around for years to come. He’s expected to start primarily as a wide receiver but will also attend defensive back meetings and gradually increase his reps at cornerback throughout the summer.
