The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl LIX rematch this afternoon.

While Philadelphia got the better of Kansas City in the teams’ last meeting, the Chiefs will have the benefit of home-field advantage in today’s tilt, which is set to kick off at 3:25 CT.

The Eagles began their 2025 campaign with a win over the Dallas Cowboys last week, and will look to advance their record to 2-0 with a road win in enemy territory. Kansas City is searching for its first win of the new season after losing its Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Take a look at our predictions for the Chiefs’ Week 2 matchup against Philadelphia:

Ed Easton Jr.’s prediction

It may seem dramatic to call this Week 2 game a “must-win situation” for the Kansas City Chiefs, but today’s contest is potentially a statement-making game for the team’s 2025 season. The Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles will have the world watching as the Chiefs play their first home game at Arrowhead Stadium.

The top story on offense concerns the health of wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who left last week’s game early with a reported dislocated shoulder. His return to practice is a promising sign for the future, as this week’s game should rely more on the Chiefs’ run game. Patrick Mahomes will look for retribution after a nightmare outing in Super Bowl LIX against Philadelphia.

Defensively, Chris Jones and the pass rushers will have their hands full with quarterback Jalen Hurts. The reigning Super Bowl MVP is at the top of his game and has shown little fear of Steve Spagnuolo’s game plan.

Final score: Chiefs 20, Eagles 17

Jon Ediger’s prediction

This matchup between Kansas City and Philadelphia is quickly becoming one of the NFL’s best rivalries.

The Chiefs’ defensive performance was, at best, frustrating against Los Angeles last week. While Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts doesn’t have the arm strength or accuracy of Chargers signal-caller Justin Herbert, the former Oklahoma Sooner is adept at reading defenses and could easily make life difficult for Kansas City’s secondary.

Against an opponent of Philadelphia’s caliber, the Chiefs will not be able to rely on Patrick Mahomes’ heroics, which — while exciting to watch — are not enough to make up for lackluster play on the other side of the ball.

If defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is unable to rally the troops against the Eagles, Kansas City will struggle to keep pace with the defending Super Bowl champions.

Final score: Chiefs 23, Eagles 28:

John Dillon’s prediction

The Chiefs and Eagles are exceptionally well-matched teams, though the outcome of Super Bowl LIX may convince fans otherwise. Rumbling about “the end of Kansas City’s dynasty” have been sounding across social media platforms since the Chiefs’ loss in Week 1, but the outcome of today’s contest will be the true litmus test for the team’s viability moving forward.

I expect Philadelphia’s ground game to eat Kansas City alive. Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts will cause headaches for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo all day, and with so little margin for error, I’m not confident in the Chiefs’ ability to keep up with the Eagles’ outstanding offense.

If there’s one factor working in Kansas City’s favor, it’s that the game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium, where a raucous crowd has a chance to rattle Philadelphia’s players with noise and energy.

Final score: Chiefs 13, Eagles 34
