INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Brandon Stokeley was a fan favorite when he was in Indianapolis.

The former Colts wide receiver had a memorable moment in Indianapolis too, catching (at the time) the record breaking 49th touchdown pass for Peyton Manning.

Stokley built a special relationship with Manning in Indy, and played with him again later in his career in Denver. He reflected on his time in Indianapolis with Manning on WISH-TV’s Countdown to Kickoff.

“It was unbelievable,” Stokley said. “I went from a situation in Baltimore where in my four years there, I felt like we probably had 10 or 12 quarterbacks. Then I go to Indy and being able just to be around Peyton, how he worked every day, his commitment, the type of person he is on and off the football field, just showed me how I needed to work if I wanted to stay in the NFL. And then now after football, just seeing all the stuff that he’s doing and being able to hang out with him and we were both here in Denver. So, he’s been a great friend, but he was a great teammate and those four years in Indy, they were fun.”

Stokley helped the Colts win the AFC South in all four seasons he was in Indianapolis, and was a part of the team that won Super Bowl XLI.

“We had a lot of great talent on that team,” Stokley said. “And we worked hard, and it was a great group of guys, and it was so much fun those four years in Indy. I look back on those years, and they were the best years of my career.”

Stokley caught 139 passes for 1,916 yards and 15 touchdowns in his four years with the Colts.

The Colts take on the Broncos on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m.
