Many entered the 2025 NFL draft expecting Penn State tight end Tyler Warren to be the top player at his position taken after a solid senior season. However, NFL franchises saw things differently, more akin to how mock drafters expected things to go in the preseason.
Though former Michigan football tight end Colston Loveland had a limited 2024 due to injuries sustained in Week 3, he was still the first tight end off the board in the draft, taken by the Chicago Bears with the No. 10 overall pick in this year’s draft. And now it’s officially official.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Loveland has signed a four-year contract worth $26.6 million over the course of the contract. It is fully guaranteed.
Loveland was the primary recipient of the Michigan pass game, with 56 pass receptions for 562 yards and five touchdowns in just 10 games. He was the Wolverines’ main target in 2024 though he was more productive in 2023 when he had 45 catches for 649 yards and four touchdowns.
He was one of three Wolverines who was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft.
