In a rematch of Super Bowl LIX, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles didn’t give up any ground in a first half that ended in a 10-10 tie.

If you’re a fan of offense, the first half wasn’t your cup of tee. The two teams combined to gain just 260 yards of total offense. The most effective offensive weapon in the first half for either team was Patrick Mahomes’ rushing, as the two-time league MVP ran for 60 yards on five carries.

The game’s first touchdown was courtesy of Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, whose 13-yard touchdown run was longer than any of his carries in the Super Bowl. Philadelphia’s score was set up by Harrison Butker’s missed field goal.

Kansas City countered with two unanswered scores that were the byproduct of runs by Mahomes. A 22-yard run by the Chiefs’ quarterback set up Butker’s 56-yard field goal early in the second quarter. Mahomes then gave the home team the lead on a 13-yard score on Kansas City’s ensuring drive.

The Eagles responded by tying the score just before halftime on Jake Elliott’s 58-yard field goal. Surprisingly, the Eagles gave Barkley the ball just eight times in the first half. Expect that to change in the second half as Philadelphia looks to get its offensive on track.
