Jadeveon Clowney won’t be playing for the Houston Texans this fall, but he will be back in the Lone Star State.
According to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the NFC East franchise has signed three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher and former Houston Texans No. 1 overall pick to a one-year contract. The news broke following Sunday’s overtime win over the New York Giants.

Clowney, one of three No. 1 overall picks in Texans’ franchise history, was released by the Carolina Panthers on May 8 after just one season of a two-year contract he signed with them in 2023. He previously visited Dallas earler in the week by never signed a contract.
In 11 seasons, he has 58 sacks, 139 quarterback hits, 409 tackles and 15 forced fumbles. After spending five years with the Texans, Clowney bounced from the Seattle Seahawks, Tenneseee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Panthers.
In Houston, Clowney totaled 205 tackles, 64 tackles for loss, 67 quarterback hits, 29 sacks and three interceptions.
The Texans return to the field on Monday to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their home opener at NRG Stadium.
