The Pittsburgh Steelers were minus two starters in the secondary against the Seattle Seahawks and it showed. Then, during the game, the Steelers lost two more of their defenders to injury, which contributed to 395 total yards of offense. Several Steelers came out of the game with injuries but were able to return, including linebacker Patrick Queen and cornerback James Pierre. Both players came out but returned to the game along with linebacker Payton Wilson.

After the game, head coach Mike Tomlin offered some injury updates on those three as well as the two Steelers defenders who were unable to return. Defensive tackle Isaiahh Loudermilk and edge defender Alex Highsmith both suffered high ankle sprains.

There were no specifics on the extent of the injury for either guy but as a rule, any high ankle sprain will sideline a player for a couple of weeks so with the bye week coming after the next two games, we might not see either guy until after that.

It was great timing for Pittsburgh to get Nate Herbig back from his hamstring injury to fill in for Highsmith and when Loudermilk went down, it was a combination of rookie Yahya Black and veteran Logan Lee. There’s been on word on when rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon will be back but next week would be a great time with this injury situation.

Next week the Steelers go on the road to take on the New England Patriots.
