ESPN’s football power index has been updated following another week of games, and Nebraska’s analytical numbers have taken a slight hit after their 59-7 victory over Houston Christian on Saturday.

The Huskers are seventh in the Big Ten, according to the FPI, and 17th overall, having ranked fifth and 12th last week. The Huskers have been projected to have 9.2 wins and a 99.8% chance of becoming bowl eligible. In addition, they have a 26.4% chance of qualifying for the College Football Playoff.

The Oregon Ducks are No. 1 in the Big Ten and nationally, with an FPI score of 24.2 and a projected total of 10.6 wins. The UCLA Bruins are 18th in the conference and 98th in the nation, with an FPI score of minus-7.3 and a projected total of 1.2 wins.

ESPN describes the football power index as a measure of team strength designed to be the most accurate predictor of a team’s performance over the course of the remainder of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is.

Nebraska (3-0) will return to action Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT when the Huskers welcome the Michigan Wolverines (2-1) to Memorial Stadium. The game is expected to be the 406th consecutive home sellout and can be seen on CBS.
