For the first time since the 2021 season, the Los Angeles Rams have started the year 2-0. They knocked off the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans in the first two weeks, remaining undefeated through two games.
Considering the Rams made the playoffs last year after starting 0-2, they’re already in a much better position to make the postseason this year thanks to their 2-0 start. Now they just have to avoid digging a hole like the one they created last year when they were 3-6 at the bye.

It’s obviously still very early in the season, but the Rams’ hot start is a great sign for their playoff and Super Bowl hopes. In the Super Bowl era, which dates back to 1966, a total of 452 teams have started a season 2-0. Of those 452 teams, 286 of them made the playoffs.
Furthermore, 80 went on to reach the Super Bowl and 36 won it all. That means of the 59 Super Bowl champions in NFL history, 36 of them started the year 2-0 like the Rams have.
In fact, the last time the Rams opened the season 2-0, they went on to win the Super Bowl; that was in 2021.
Last season, seven of the eight teams that started 2-0 made the playoffs. The year prior, six of the eight 2-0 teams made the playoffs.

Here’s a closer look at the data, according to Stathead.
452 teams have started 2-0 since 1966
286 made the playoffs (63.3%)
166 missed the playoffs (36.7%)
80 reached the Super Bowl (17.7%)
36 won the Super Bowl (8%)
As a franchise, the Rams have started 2-0 in 21 different seasons since 1966. They went on to make the playoffs 16 times, won the Super Bowl twice and reached the big game four times.
They hope to have similar success this season after winning their first two games of the year, but they know there’s a long way to go – especially with teams like the Eagles, Ravens, Lions, 49ers and Buccaneers still on the schedule.
