CINCINNATI (WKRC) – While much of the injury focus about the Cincinnati Bengals that occurred in Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars obviously centered around quarterback Joe Burrow suffering a serious turf toe injury, there was also a key player on defense who suffered an injury that could cost him some games.

Defensive lineman Shemar Stewart, the rookie first-round pick, left the game in the second half with what head coach Zac Taylor said was an ankle sprain. While Taylor said on Monday that Stewart is “doubtful for this week” when the Bengals play at the Minnesota Vikings, there are reports that he may miss more than one game.

Taylor wasn’t ready to go beyond his status for this week’s game. “We will accumulate more information today, tomorrow as it goes,” said Taylor.

Stewart has popped at times in the first two games, but has just two total tackles, no sacks and no quarterback hits.
