APPLETON (WLUK) — Holy Spirit Catholic School had a special guest in attendance at its assembly Monday.

Green Bay Packers legend and Super Bowl champion Donald Driver stopped by to spend time with students and inspire them to be their best selves.

His speech focused on themes of friendship, helping others and chasing your dreams.

“We wanted to talk about kindness, what kindness truly looks like. I wanted the kids to understand that you want to be treated the same way somebody else wants to be treated, and you have to be willing to treat yourself a certain way to be able to treat someone else the same way,” Driver said.

He credited the Packers for allowing him to pursue his dreams during his NFL days, and still today as a former player.

“Have a purpose in life. What do you want to do? What do you want to accomplish? My purpose is that the Green Bay Packers gave me a platform for 25 years. But my purpose is made every single day, and that’s putting smiles on people’s faces, and that’s why I’m here,” said Driver.

He and the students then participated in a series of games and took a group picture.

Monday’s visit is part of a back-to-school initiative with the Donald Driver Foundation that also includes helping purchase equipment for the school.

Driver is now heading to Green Bay to co-host this week’s episode of “Inside the Huddle” with FOX 11 Sports Director Ryan Wing.
