The Carolina Panthers might be tapping into their pipeline from up north.
As noted by the league transaction wire on Monday, the Panthers have worked out free-agent linebacker Baylon Spector. The six-foot, 233-pound defender spent his first three NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills, who selected him in the seventh round of the 2022 draft.

Spector, a Calhoun, Ga. native, attended nearby Clemson University from 2017 to 2021. He played in 53 games for the Tigers, including 15 during their national championship-winning campaign in 2018—amassing 192 combined tackles (23 for a loss), 9.5 sacks, an interception, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
He’s gone on to appear in 26 games as a pro in Buffalo. Spector started in four of his 11 contests in 2024, where he notched career-highs in tackles (40), tackles for a loss (two) and sacks (1.5).
Carolina is currently carrying four inside linebackers on their active roster—starters Christian Rozeboom and Trevin Wallace, fourth-year veteran Claudin Cherelus and undrafted rookie Bam Martin-Scott.
