It’s football season in the Borderland and that can only mean one thing: football parties! I don’t even like football but I can certainly attest that I do love going to a football watching party- and in my family, it’s all about the Cowboys.
If there’s one thing Cowboys fans know how to do, it’s turn game day into a full-blown event. Between the tailgates, the watch parties, and the sea of blue and silver in the stands, it’s already a party before kickoff even happens. But according to a brand-new study, Cowboys fans aren’t just cheering the loudest- they’re also sipping plenty while they do it!
NFL Fanbases that Drink the Most
The Action Network surveyed over 3,000 NFL fans this summer to see which fan bases really go all in on the drinks, from tailgates to the fourth quarter. They asked fans about pregaming, sipping inside the stadium, and even what counts as “heavy drinking” (that’s five or more drinks on gameday, in case you were wondering).
And while some teams definitely topped the charts, Cowboys fans held their own, proving they know how to balance cheering, tailgating, and tossing back a few cold ones.
So who snagged the crown for the booziest fan base? That honor goes to Arizona Cardinals fans, with nearly one in five hitting “heavy drinker” status on gameday. Right behind them were Buffalo Bills fans (because of course) and Houston Texans fans, both with more than 15% of their crew knocking back five or more drinks. Texans fans even led the entire league in in-stadium drinking- a whopping 80% said they sip during the game.
How Much are Cowboys Fans Drinking?
Now, where do Cowboys fans land in all of this? Let’s just say they aren’t topping the charts for being the rowdiest drinkers, but they’re definitely not sitting out either.
When it comes to Cowboys Nation, the numbers show fans know how to have a good time without going completely overboard. Plenty of them admit to pregaming before kickoff- because let’s be real, tailgates outside AT&T Stadium are practically a sport of their own. And once they’re inside, the drinks don’t exactly stop. Cowboys fans reported a solid amount of in-stadium sipping, enough to land them in the middle of the NFL pack.
They’re not hitting the extreme levels of Texans or Cardinals fans, but they’re far from the lightweights of the league. Basically, Cowboys fans found the sweet spot: drink enough to keep the party rolling, but still save your voice for screaming at the refs.
Cowboys fans don’t need to lead the league in drinking stats to prove their loyalty. They show up, they tailgate, they cheer, and yes, they definitely enjoy a few cold ones along the way. The study might have crowned other teams as the “booziest,” but Cowboys Nation doesn’t need titles for that- they’ve already mastered the art of making gameday feel like one giant party.
