Bengals Beat Podcast: A discussion on Turf Toe with Dr. Andrew Miller

Bengals Beat Reporter Kelsey Conway speaks with Beacon Orthopedic foot and ankle specialist Dr. Adam Miller about Joe Burrow’s injury during the NFL Week 2 Bengals vs. Jaguars game.

Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback JJ McCarthy suffered an ankle injury during his team’s Sunday night loss to the Atlanta Falcons, and he’ll likely be sidelined for his team’s NFL Week 3 game against the Cincinnati Bengals at U.S. Bank Stadium, according to head coach Kevin O’Connell.

The Vikings are expected to start backup Carson Wentz against the Bengals. O’Connell indicated that Max Brosmer will back up Wentz.

ESPN reported that McCarthy is expected to miss 2-to-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain.

The Bengals are expected to start backup quarterback Jake Browning after head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that starter Joe Burrow’s toe injury likely will require surgery.

O’Connell announced that running back Aaron Jones also is expected to miss the game against the Bengals because of a hamstring injury.

Minnesota’s starting center, former Lakota West High School standout Ryan Kelly, left the Vikings’ Sunday night loss to Atlanta with what the team announced as a concussion. He was declared out, and fans expressed concern on social media because of his concussion history during his nine seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.

Vikings tackle Justin Skule, who was filling in for injured starter Christian Darrisaw, has a concussion, O’Connell confirmed after the game.

O’Connell said Monday that Kelly and Skule are both in concussion protocol.

In addition, linebacker Jonathan Greenard suffered an oblique injury.
