Week 3 of the NFL season hasn’t even officially started, and yet, a host for ESPN New York is accusing the league of rigging games for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs dropped to 0-2 on the season this past Sunday, losing 20-17 to the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl LIX rematch. Patrick Mahomes had 187 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception in Week 2. His interception came on a costly mistake from Travis Kelce, who bobbled what could’ve been a touchdown catch in the second half.

Kansas City won’t have much time to dwell on its Week 2 loss. Next up is a showdown with the New York Giants on “Sunday Night Football.” Both teams are winless heading into MetLife Stadium.

Although it might not be necessary, ESPN New York host Don La Greca is convinced the refs will help out the Chiefs during Sunday’s game.

“There’s too much on the line,” La Greca argued. “I’m sorry – call me a conspiracy theorist. ESPN can fire me. The NFL is not going to allow the Kansas City Chiefs to lose that game on national television and be 0-3. What are you gonna do?”

La Greca mentioned Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s engagement as a potential reason for why the NFL “needs” the Chiefs to avoid an 0-3 start to the season.

“They’re getting married later. They’re engaged,” La Greca continued. “I’m telling you we’re gonna sit here next Monday and we’re gonna say, I’m telling you, there’s gonna be at least three calls where we’re going to be like, how did that happen?”

Chiefs didn’t receive favorable officiating in Week 2.

La Greca might accuse the referees of favoring the Chiefs, but they actually had a few missed calls go against them this past Sunday.

The Eagles got away with a few penalties while running the “Tush Push” in Week 2. There was one replay angle that showed offensive linemen Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen commit clear false starts.

Maybe the Chiefs will get help from the officials this Sunday, but there’s zero evidence the league is rigging games for Mahomes and his crew.
