The 49ers locked up their offensive and defensive quarterbacks this past offseason when they signed Brock Purdy and Fred Warner to extended contracts.

Purdy went from Mr. Irrelevant to the $265 Million Man and, as Warner says, it’s for good reason.

Warner, who received a three-year, $63 million deal, spoke with 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs” and gave his QB1 the ultimate compliment on Tuesday.

“Purdy is the man,” Warner said. “I love Purdy with everything in my soul because this guy, I believe, can be the best in the game. He’s shown that already in this league, in what, three years of playing after being drafted last in the draft.”

Purdy, who already has helped lead the 49ers to a pair of NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance, missed Sunday’s matchup against the Saints in New Orleans due to a turf toe injury.

While Mac Jones filled in well for San Francisco, Warner isn’t thinking about anyone else taking snaps from the center for the future.

“The things that [Purdy] was doing in training camp were unreal, so I’m excited for when he does get back,” said Warner.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy could return sooner rather than later following the 49ers’ 26-21 win over the Saints.

Purdy had two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions while completing 26 of 35 passes for 277 yards in the 49ers’ 17-13 Week 1 victory over the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field.

Next man up is a frequently heard saying in NFL, but it’s obvious – and understandable –  Warner and the 49ers are ready for Purdy’s return.
