The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles made history again in the television ratings, following their record-breaking Super Bowl LIX audience.

According to a press release from FOX Sports, last Sunday’s Week 2 matchup drew 33.8 million viewers. It is the network’s best-ever regular season Sunday telecast, the most-watched Week 2 NFL telecast on record, and many more all-time viewership records.

Aside from Thanksgiving games, the other two regular-season games that garnered higher numbers were from over 30 years ago, both of which were Monday Night Football games.

Speculation regarding the high ratings rise ranges from the early Super Bowl rematch to Taylor Swift’s appearance in attendance shortly after her engagement to Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce.

The 20-17 victory for the Eagles further validated their recent Super Bowl title and improved their undefeated record to 2-0. The Chiefs start 2025 with their first 0-2 record since 2014 and for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.
