The Carolina Panthers signed former Wisconsin linebacker Maema Njongmeta to their active roster on Monday. They did so by claiming him off the Cincinnati Bengals‘ practice squad, where he spent the 2024 NFL season and the start of 2025. The team made the move in advance of its upcoming Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Njongmeta signed with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL draft. After surprisingly making the team’s active roster, he appeared in 17 games as a rookie, starting one. He totaled 13 tackles and two fumble recoveries during that time.

The former Badger missed the Bengals’ 53-man roster cut after last month’s training camp. After spending the first two weeks of the season on their practice squad, he now gets another shot at sticking on an active roster.

The Panthers and Falcons are set to kick off from Charlotte, North Carolina, at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday. Njongmeta currently slots in as a third-team inside linebacker and likely special teams contributor.
