Jared Verse has yet to record a sack through two games of his sophomore season. This is a bit of a surprise for the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, but he is just one piece of a rock-solid Los Angeles Rams defensive front.
Verse may not have the sack numbers yet, but he is still delivering in the running game. The second-year edge rusher has the second-most run stop-wins and the second-highest run-stop win rate at his position. His nine stops and 56% win rate rank only behind DeMarcus Lawrence of the Seattle Seahawks, per ESPN.

This was one of Verse’s most underrated traits following his sublime rookie season, which was overshadowed by his insane pressure numbers. But it’s been a big boon for a Rams defense that overall suffered in the run-stopping department in 2024.
So, while the rest of the unit gets sacks, Verse will continue to play a role in thwarting the run. He’ll get his first big test in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, who ran all over the Rams in the NFC Divisional Round a year ago.
