This change is much needed for college football.

On Wednesday, the NCAA announced that the spring transfer portal has been eliminated. Going forward, there will now be only one transfer portal window in college football, which will likely come in the first week of January, but that part is not set in stone yet. The FBS and FCS oversight committees will discuss the proposed January window in October.

Thank goodness. Honestly, I’m a fan of this. As a media member, this will help me know football rosters well before the season starts.

Covering college football is chaotic as it is. Memorizing 90 players on the team you cover and then 90 players on the other roster is not easy.

But knowing what every team’s roster is by the Spring? That’s something I can get behind. More importantly, it will be better for all teams in college football to establish chemistry and minimize transfer chaos.
