Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke to reporters before practice on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the struggling running game through two weeks.
“It’s something you continue to trust in. That’s part of football is being able to trust in the run game and whenever they’re in the light boxes, run the football and force them to come down (so) we can throw some of the shots down the field.” said Mahomes, “I think that will come together more and more as the o-line continues to gel and the running backs can gel with the o-line as well. More than just pass protection when you have two new offensive linemen joining in, it’s about building that chemistry, and so I think as the season goes on, they’ll continue to get better at that.”

Mahomes became the second quarterback since 1950 to record double the amount of rushing yards as any other player on his team in the first two games of a season, joining Cam Newton’s performance in 2020.
He finished last week’s victory with 66 yards on seven carries and has 123 rushing yards through the first two games.
