SANTA CLARA — Brock Purdy took part in his second consecutive practice after missing the 49ers’ Week 2 win over the New Orleans Saints.
The quarterback, who has been recovering from toe and shoulder injuries sustained in the season opener, was once again on the field during the early portion of practice Thursday. Purdy warmed up as usual while throwing to staff, running backs, and then wide receivers and tight ends.
One receiver Purdy was unable to work with was Jauan Jennings, who missed his second practice of the week with an ankle injury sustained in Sunday’s game. The team’s leading receiver from 2024 has been battling through injuries — calf and shoulder — since the start of training camp but has yet to miss a game.
Fullback Kyle Juszczyk and defensive back Siran Neal were seen at practice wearing blue non-contact jerseys, which indicate that both players are progressing through the league’s independent return to play protocol following concussions.
Juszczyk was only on the field for 10 offensive plays before being ruled out in Week 2 and was seen after the game wearing sunglasses for light sensitivity. Neal was cleared and allowed to return to the game in New Orleans, but he reported symptoms on Monday once the team returned to the Bay Area.
Both Juszczyk and Neal were seen during the early portion of practice participating in special teams drills.
Players who sat out of Wednesday’s practice with veteran rest days returned to the field Thursday, including Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa and Trent Williams, who was seen working on the side field with trainers during positional warm-ups.
Spencer Burford, who injured his knee in Sunday’s win, was not seen for the second day in a row.
Yetur Gross-Matos returned to the field after missing Wednesday’s session, participating in defensive line positional warmups.
