Cowboys Nation is all about Brandon Aubrey this week.
The kicker from Plano nailed two clutch field goals in Sunday’s win over the Giants, including a 64-yarder that sent the game into overtime.
That ties for the third-longest field goal in NFL history.
It turns out, a high school student in Frisco beat Aubrey to it by a couple of days.
“He’s really inspirational,” said Jack Drygas, kicker for Legacy Christian Academy in Frisco.
On Friday night, Drygas faced an opportunity few ever do in high school: attempt a field goal longer than 60 yards.
Head coach Doug Hix had the punt team on the field to kick the ball away when he says Drygas came to him with his hands pressed together.
“He was sitting there giving me prayer, ‘Please coach, please, I can make it,’” said Hix. “Obviously, I called the time out to call the punt team off and then said field goal, and everybody went crazy.”
Drygas nailed the 64-yarder with room to spare.
“The first reaction I felt was shock. Sixty-four yards out, the longest I’ve ever made in practice is 65, and so to watch that thing go through the uprights and have as much as it did, it even shocked me in that moment,” Drygas told NBC 5.

On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys had a chance to tie the Giants and send the game into overtime when kicker Brandon Aubrey took the field.
“As he went out on the field, I’m like, oh my goodness, it’s the exact same field goal that I just made a few days earlier,” said Drygas.
“To watch him receive the amount of attention and praise for doing the same thing that I just did, it was like, it was a great moment. He’s in the NFL and I’m in high school and I’m, like, it’s absolutely amazing,” said Drygas.
Drygas has played soccer all his life and only switched to football full-time two years ago.
The senior is now at the top of his game and at the top of his class, said Hix.
“Academically, he’s going to be our valedictorian. He’s got a 35 out of 36 on the ACT. Whatever opportunity a school gives him to kick there, they’re going to be blessed by the man of Jack Drygas,” said Hix.
Drygas says he’s heard from several college coaches since Friday and dreams of playing in the NFL, like Aubrey.
“It’s a crazy feeling to be compared to Brandon Aubrey,” he said.
Legacy Christian Academy won Friday’s game 30–7 and is now 3–0 this season.
