The Vikings have lost one of their more productive defenders from the preseason after the Jacksonville Jaguars poached him off their practice squad.

On Wednesday, the Jaguars claimed safety Kahlef Hailassie after the team had waived former first-round pick Darnell Savage. In the case of Savage, that name should also be familiar to Vikings fans after he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers originally.

Hailassie signed with the Vikings this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Cleveland Browns. During those two years, he played in ten games and started one of them. He wasn’t productive there and was used sparingly as he racked up just six tackles in those two seasons. Prior to being with the Browns, he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a UDFA out of Western Kentucky.

Hailassie also played at Oregon and the notable Independence Community College from Netflix’s Last Chance U.
