Luke Haggard is finally getting his chance to perform on the NFL stage.

After spending the last three years on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad, the former Petaluma High School and Santa Rosa Junior College standout was elevated to the active 53-man roster and is set to make his NFL debut Sunday against the New York Jets.

“Definitely super excited,” he told reporters on Thursday about his promotion.

The 25-year-old offensive lineman, who went undrafted in 2023 after a two-year stint at Indiana University, is getting the opportunity after a slew of injuries on the Buccaneers’ offensive line. The team placed its starting offensive tackle and guard on injured reserve Thursday.

When he suits up on Sunday, Haggard will become the first Sonoma County player to play in an NFL game since Casa Grande grad Elijah Qualls and Cardinal Newman grad Scooby Wright, who both got regular-season playing time in 2017.

The game is set to kick off at 10 a.m. PDT and will be broadcast on Fox.
