It’s interesting to see what the interests are of the men and women who get paid to entertain. Naturally, they’d seek entertainment as part of their leisure time, right? We’ve seen the cutaway shots of actors and actresses at sporting events. There may even be a few present at the Baltimore Ravens‘ coming home game vs. the Detroit Lions.

Baseball is our national pastime. Football is our great nation’s passion. Monday Night Football is a big deal, and it has been for a long time. Ask your grandparents. Heck, ask your great-grandparents if they’re still with us.

Last week, we were treated to a doubleheader, but in most cases, MNF gives us one game. Only two of the NFL’s 32 teams are working. They’re on the grand stage—the other 30 tune in to watch them.

This coming Monday, the entire football world fixates its gaze on the city of Baltimore. No one is complaining. That gives us another opportunity to fawn over Lamar Jackson.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson discusses the Monday Night Football stage.

At some point in our lives, we’ve all dreamed of throwing a TD pass on Monday Night Football while the world watches. Unfortunately, most of us will never be able to experience that joy from the first-person perspective.

That isn’t a problem for Jared Goff and Lamar Jackson. They’ve done it before, and they’re about to have that opportunity again. Jackson was asked about his days as a fan during a recent chat with the media. Did he stay up late as a youth to watch the game like the rest of us?

“No, I was trying to play the game, trying to imitate what those guys were doing, if anything. But my mom used to make me go to sleep because I had school, so no, not really.”

Really? Not even one? Okay, so, walk back some of our previous comments. We were watching. Lamar was actually playing. Maybe that has something to do with him being the two-time MVP and why we talk about the game to make a living. Oh well… No sweat. We wouldn’t trade our jobs for anything.

Lamar Jackson has started nine times on MNF. He has thrown 22 touchdown passes versus zero interceptions. He was asked if he was aware of this. Guess what his answer to that question was.

“No, if anything, I’m going to try to keep it going, if I am playing well. I don’t pay attention to it.”

Okay, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see why he is as good as he is. This guy is laser-focused, and that focus has earned him the respect of peers as well as his coaches and teammates. Okay, so riddle us this. Which is the better primetime atmosphere? Is it playing on Monday nights, Thursday Night Football, or Sunday Night Football?

“Any given [day]. Any given day, I’ll be ready.” You know what? We can’t do anything but tip our caps in response to that type of attitude. The Ravens evened their win-loss total in Week 1. Now, they look to move above .500. It won’t be easy, but they have the tools and appropriate attitudes to send
