Edinburgh High School canceled its homecoming football game against Milan just hours before kickoff on Friday.

Edinburgh posted on its Facebook page: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s Homecoming Football game and all related Homecoming activities, are canceled for tonight.”

There was no other information provided on the reason for the cancellation. It’s unknown how the result of the game will be recorded. Edinburgh and Milan are in the Mid-Indiana Conference. The Lancers (1-3) won their first game of the season last week, 18-16 over the home school Southside Crimson Knights.

A message seeking comment from Edinburgh principal Kevin Rockey was not immediately returned.

Edinburgh, a Class A program, has traditionally struggled in football. The Lancers had lost 16 consecutive games prior to last week and have not posted a winning record since 1993, though they did finish 5-5 in 2021.
