What happened the last time the Jaguars played the Texans?

Trevor Lawrence was knocked out of the game and eventually for the season by the late hit on Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair and Mac Jones completed 20 of 32 passes for 235 yards and fourth-quarter TDs to Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. Washington caught six passes for a career-high 103 yards.

What’s the key Jaguars-Texans matchup?

Jaguars CB Tyson Campbell vs. Texans WR Nico Collins

No wide receiver has abused the Jaguars’ secondary more than Collins in the past two seasons. He has caught 29 passes for 408 yards (14.1) and two touchdowns against the Jaguars in his last four games, with three 100-yard games. In the Texans’ home victory last year, he caught 12 for 151 yards.

Campbell was injured in two of those games but in the other two, he did not have an interception or a pass defensed. He has also gone 22 games in a row without a pick, dating back to the opening game of the 2023 season against the Colts.

Collins is the only player in the Houston wide receiver room who played against the Jaguars last year. He has struggled, along with the rest of the Texans’ offense so far this season, with six receptions for 77 yards. But bet the ranch that Houston will try to force-feed him the ball on Sunday.
