Two New England Patriots legends will be honored Saturday with an induction into the team’s Hall of Fame.The induction ceremony for former coach Bill Parcells and former wide receiver Julian Edelman will be held in the Patriot Place Plaza, located just outside the Patriots Hall of Fame, and is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.Edelman, a fan favorite and three-time Super Bowl champion, spent his entire 12-year career with the Patriots after being drafted in the seventh round in 2009. He is second in team history with 620 receptions, fourth with 6,822 receiving yards and ninth with 36 receiving touchdowns. Fans will remember his crucial Super Bowl performances, including his 10 catches in the win over the Los Angeles Rams, which earned him the title of Super Bowl 53 MVP. He also made a miraculous fingertip-catch late in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 51 against Atlanta and the game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl 49 against Seattle.Edelman holds the team record with four punt returns for a touchdown and set a franchise record with a 94-yard punt return for a touchdown against Miami on Jan. 2, 2011.Parcells was the head coach of the Patriots between 1993 and 1996, and led the team to the playoffs twice.
