Veteran Marcus Mariota is the Commanders’ backup. Last year, the former first-rounder went 34 of 44 for 364 yards and four touchdowns in three relief appearances. Mariota has started 74 games in his 11-year career. His last start came in 2022 with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Packers sacked Daniels four times on Thursday night and hit the QB 12 times. Green Bay didn’t allow the dynamic signal-caller to get loose, holding him to just 17 rushing yards, the second-lowest total in his career. The Packers defense held the Commanders to the lowest single-game explosive play rate (3.1%) and success rate (32.3%) of Daniels’ career.
Jeff Hafley’s defense blitzed Daniels 12 times in Week 2, forcing seven pressures (58.3%) while sacking him twice. The defense held Daniels to three completions on 10 pass attempts against the blitz, a career-low 30.0% completion percentage, and did not allow him to scramble on any of the 12 blitzes.
