MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins signed veteran long snapper Joe Cardona on Friday, just one day after releasing longtime specialist Blake Ferguson.
Cardona brings a wealth of experience to Miami, having spent the past 10 seasons with the New England Patriots.
He played in 160 games for the team, notching 13 special teams tackles and forcing one fumble. A two-time Super Bowl champion, (SBs 51 and 53), Cardona also appeared in 13 playoff games during his time in New England.
Originally a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Cardona played college football at Navy, where he appeared in 51 games from 2011 to 2014.
In addition to his football career, he serves as a lieutenant in the Navy Reserve.
