Here’s a shakeup for the New Orleans Saints receiving corps ahead of Week 3’s game with the Seattle Seahawks. On Saturday, the Saints reported a brief list of roster moves that brought some players up from their practice squad just in time for kickoff at Lumen Field. Here’s what you need to know about each transaction:

WR Kevin Austin Jr. promoted to the 53-man roster

Two wide receivers are questionable to play this week due to injuries — Devaughn Vele (hip) and Trey Palmer (knee) — so it made sense to bring up Austin as an experienced backup. He’ll likely be active behind Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, Brandin Cooks, and Mason Tipton.

TE Treyton Welch elevated for Week 3

Welch is one of two active-roster promotions this week, though he’ll revert to the practice squad on Monday. He made some plays during the preseason and must have been seen as a better option than rookie draft pick Moliki Matavao for this matchup. This is the first of three game-week elevations for him.

DE Fadil Diggs elevated for Week 3

It’s the same story for Diggs, who has gotten work as a third-down pass rusher while coming up from the practice squad to start his rookie season. He’s still searching for his first career sack and will continue to get opportunities. The Saints can elevate him one more time before they’ll be forced to sign him to the 53-man roster so he can continue to play.

TE Moliki Matavao waived from the 53-man roster

The Saints had to make a corresponding roster move for Austin to sign with the active roster. Matavao will likely re-sign with the practice squad if he clears waivers, but other teams will have an opportunity to snatch him up (the Saints drafted him in Round 7 for a reason). He was active in each of the first two games but only saw five snaps on offense and nine on special teams behind Juwan Johnson and Jack Stoll. Both Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau will be eligible to come off the PUP list after Week 4, so maybe this suggests the Saints expect one or both of the veterans to return soon.
