Saturday saw the Commanders make one roster move, as they elevated veteran cornerback Antonio Hamilton from the practice squad to the roster.
A move at cornerback was anticipated because of the injury to Jonathan Jones. Jones was placed on injured reserve this week and will therefore miss at least four games. Jones injured his hamstring in the second half of the Week 2 loss at Green Bay.

Losing Jones for four weeks is a significant loss. He was signed in the offseason as a free agent to bring in an experienced, veteran corner. The loss of Jones for at least four games meant the Commanders were down to only four healthy corners on their roster (Marshon Lattimore, Trey Amos, Mike Sainristil, and Noah Igbinoghene).
Commanders fans will find Hamilton wearing jersey No. 34. He has ten years of NFL experience out of South Carolina State and is 32 years old. He is listed at 6-0, 188 pounds on the roster. Hamilton has been around the league, playing in regular-season games for the Raiders (2016-17), Giants (2018-19), Chiefs (2020), Cardinals (2021-23), and Falcons (2024).
The Commanders signed Hamilton on August 11, then released him on August 26, while trimming their roster to 53. He was then signed back to the Commanders’ practice squad.
