One week after making his NFL debut, former Alabama tight end Cameron Latu could play again for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
For the second week in a row, the Eagles have elevated Latu from their practice squad, making him eligible to play against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Each NFL team can elevate two players from its practice squad to active status for every game.
A third-round pick in the 2023 draft, Latu played in an NFL regular-season game for the first time on Sunday. He got on the field for six snaps at fullback and 15 special-teams plays in Philadelphia’s 20-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Latu caught 56 passes for 787 yards and 12 touchdowns in his final two seasons at Alabama after starting his college career as a linebacker.
Drafted by San Francisco, Latu sustained a meniscus injury in the 49ers’ final preseason game in 2023. He spent the entire season on injured reserve and had two knee surgeries.
In the 49ers’ three preseason games in 2024, Latu had eight receptions for 84 yards. But when San Francisco reduced its active roster from the preseason total of 90 players to the regular-season limit of 53, the 49ers waived Latu on Aug. 27, 2024.
Two days later, the Cleveland Browns signed Latu for their practice squad. The tight end spent the first 15 weeks of the 2024 season there without being elevated to active status for any of Cleveland’s games. Two weeks after releasing him from their practice squad, the Browns signed the Latu for the final week of their 2024 season, but he did not play.
The Eagles waived Latu when they reduced their preseason roster to the regular-season limit last month. When Latu cleared waivers, Philadelphia signed him for its practice team.
“It was tough,” Latu told the Eagles’ official website, “but I know God got a plan, and everything He does happens for a reason. So I trusted His plan and just waited for my opportunity and just kept on trying to grow prior to that. I felt like it was on display for the minimal snaps I got. I gave it my all and just tried to help the team win.”
Two other Alabama alumni will not play on Sunday because of injuries.
Minnesota Vikings center Ryan Kelly sustained a concussion in Week 2 and won’t play against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Tennessee Titans won’t have JC Latham at left offensive tackle when they play the Indianapolis Colts because of a hip injury. Latham also missed the Week 2 game.
