The Tennessee Titans made a surprise move on Saturday by placing defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat on injured reserve, which will sideline their defensive anchor for at least the next four weeks.
This is the latest setback for the talented defender, who has suffered through a rough start to the 2025 season, battling abdominal injuries, a tonsillectomy, and now an ankle injury. Sweat originally injured the ankle against the Denver Broncos in Week 1 and missed their Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

There was some optimism that Sweat would return this week against the Indianapolis Colts after he practiced early in the week. Unfortunately, it was reported that he aggravated the injury on Thursday, which led to the decision to place him on injured reserve.
The Titans ignored some red flags when selecting Sweat in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, and those appeared behind him after a solid rookie campaign where he flashed athleticism and dominating potential on top of his run-stuffing prowess. This is a massive loss for the Titans’ defense, which has struggled to stop the run through two games in 2025.
To take his place on the active 53-man roster, the Titans signed offensive tackle John Ojukwu, who will likely be active in a depth role with starting right tackle JC Latham already ruled out for Sunday’s matchup with the Colts.
