KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs are back on the road this week, looking to get their first win of the 2025 season in New York.
While there might not be as many connections between the Giants and Chiefs as there are between the Philadelphia Eagles and Chiefs, there are some interesting facts to know.

Here’s a look at some of the history between the Giants and Chiefs, and how the two teams might fare come Sunday:
Chiefs winless vs. Giants on the road
It’s true – the Kansas City Chiefs have never beaten the New York Giants on their home turf.
While the Chiefs have won games against the New York Jets, who share MetLife with the Giants, they’re 0-1 against the Giants at the stadium and 0-7 on the road all-time.
Thousands expected for Premier League Fan Fest in Kansas City
Overall, the Chiefs aren’t much better; they’re 4-11 against the Giants in their 15 games since 1974.
The Chiefs can now look to get their first win of the year and their first win ever against the Giants on the road. With the Chiefs at 0-2, they’ll need to get that done to get the season back on track. According to the NFL, only 12.2% of teams that start 0-2 go on to make the playoffs.

Coaching connection
The coaching staffs for both the Chiefs and Giants may not be entirely familiar with each other as the teams are in opposite conferences, but there are some connections.
Perhaps the connection that stands out the most comes from Defesive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s stint with the Giants. He served as the defensive coordinator from 2007-2008 and then again from 2015-2017. Additionally, Spagnuolo was named the interim head coach of the Giants for the last four weeks of the 2017 season.
Additionally, Chiefs’ Defensive Backs Coach Dave Merritt was on the Giants as the defensive assistant/quality control coach in 2004, the defensive assistant in 2005 and the secondary/safeties coach from 2006-2017.

Record watch
As usual, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is on record watch for a couple of Chiefs franchise records.
Kelce needs two receiving touchdowns to tie Priest Holmes for the most in Chiefs history (83) and 33 receiving yards to tie Dante Hall as well (12,356).
What to watch for
Even though the Chiefs ruled second-year WR Xavier Worthy out for Sunday’s game, it looks like the Kingdom could get its first look at rookie WR Jalen Royals.
Royals was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, but with Rashee Rice suspended and Worthy out, Royals could help out in a big way in NY. If not, Hollywood Brown, Nikko Remigio and Tyquan Thornton will continue to fill out the WR room.

The Chiefs will need to slow down Giants quarterback Russell Wilson if they want to win. He’s started off 2025 strong with 618 passing yards compared to Mahomes’ 445.
Others to look out for on the Giants include WR Malik Nabors, and Brian Burns, who’s up to three sacks already.
