The Dallas Cowboys might have gotten a win last Sunday over their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, but the performance on the defensive end was less than stellar.
Giants’ quarterback Russell Wilson, who struggled against the Washington Commanders, racked up 450 passing yards on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium. Cowboys co-owner and chief operating officer Stephen Jones is all too aware of the deficiencies Dallas faces on that side of the ball.
“It’s a work in progress. You can’t do that. Give up the yardage, points and big, explosive plays we gave up. Everybody on the staff, team and organization is aware that you don’t win many football games doing that,” Jones said of the state of the Cowboys roster in a radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM).

Jones went on to express what he saw as highlights from the defense, despite the point and passing yardage totals given up to New York.
“We think we got one of the best in the business in Eberflus and we have all the confidence in the world that we’re going to do the things that we got to do to sure that up. I do think there were some positives in terms of something that we’ve been focused on, which is stopping the run. But at the end of the day, it’s got to be an all-around performance,” Jones said.
The Cowboys gave up only 84 rushing yards to the Giants on Sunday after giving up 119 yards on the ground the week before to the Philadelphia Eagles in a loss.
