Jaguars coach Liam Coen discusses Trevor Lawrence ahead of Texans game
Jaguars coach Liam Coen talks about QB Trevor Lawrence’s week heading into a home game against the Houston Texans.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have one of the NFL’s top offenses through two weeks. That will be put to the test today when the Houston Texans and their game-wrecking defense comes to EverBank Stadium.
In Liam Coen’s first season as head coach, the 1-1 Jags have the No. 4 offense by yards in the NFL. That’s thanks largely to the top-ranked run offense with 169.5 yards per game behind Travis Etienne and rookie Bhayshul Tuten. The passing game still has work to do, with Trevor Lawrence throwing three interceptions, Travis Hunter having a quiet start stat-wise to his career and Brian Thomas Jr. dropping nearly 75% of his targets early on.
The Texans (0-2) have Will Anderson, Derek Stingley and the No. 7 scoring defense in the league, but they’ve also scored the fewest points in the NFL (28). C.J. Stroud has thrown just one touchdown with an interception, while Nick Chubb has been Houston’s best offensive player so far with 103 yards and a TD.

Jaguars 24, Texans 7: “(The Jaguars) lead the league in turnovers, they’re the No. 1 rushing offense in the NFL (through two weeks) and, frankly, their performance against the Bengals had positive signs despite the loss. While it’s early, the Texans have some legitimate issues on both sides of the ball.” – Demetrius Harvey, Florida Times-UnionSpread: Jaguars by 1½Over/under: 43½Moneyline: Texans +105, Jaguars -125
